The Instituto de Investigação e Inovação em Saúde - Associate Laboratory (i3S-AL) is a transdisciplinary institution committed to promoting research and innovation in the Health Sciences at the highest international level while carrying out graduate training and contributing to solving current major societal challenges. It stands out for its key collaboration with the University of Porto and major hospitals in the Northern region. Almost 1500 people work at i3S, which is organized into three thematic units: Cancer; Infection, Immunity & Regeneration; and Neurobiology & Neurologic Disorders. Our approach spans fundamental questions regarding living systems, mechanisms underlying disease, and the development of novel diagnostic and therapeutic strategies. i3S-AL also has several scientific platforms managed by highly qualified scientists providing expertise and access to state-of-the-art instrumentation, as well as training for students and researchers. These core facilities - available not only to internal users but also to the external scientific community and industry - cover genomics, biomolecular analysis, cell analysis, imaging, and animal experimentation.
